Local Writers Read

Local Writers Read is a curated reading series in Lewiston featuring (mostly) Maine writers of poetry, fiction, and nonfiction.

Maine has a wealth of talented writers but it can be challenging to find literary community. And readers are not always aware of the gifted storytellers who live right next door. We build community around writers across genres and throughout a wide range of experience and interest, and readers who want to connect with the work of their neighbors and friends.

We started the reading series in 2018 at Quiet City Books in Lewiston, Maine. Beginning with our third season in 2020, and in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, we’re sharing stories and other content digitally, where we’ll take advantage of limitless online space to invite more writers into the Maine writing community.

Through our online presence and live events, we invite readers and writers to come together, relax, and share a love of story. Events are always free and open to the public. Join us!

Local Writers Read is hosted by Quiet City Books at 200 Lisbon St., Lewiston, ME, and is co-sponsored by the Lewiston Public Library.
